Submission Deadline: Sept 15th 11:59pm

Details:  The Carnival began as an indulgence of vices before the Lenten period, the time when the pious would leave meat off the plate, the “carne leavarum.” The Belltown Phreakshow is a carnival macabre where the meat on the plate is our bodies, and the vices to be indulged upon our hellish perversions.

The Phreakshow is a reclamation of the predatory history of demonizing and objectifying the marginalized, the unconventional, the “weirdos”. Phreakshow is a celebration of weird. Bizarre, unsettling, sinful, body inclusive, and sex positive (with an +18 category for the most devious of phreaks).

These are pieces that re-imagine the sideshow of the past as empowering homages to the performers of yore while at the same time unapologetically celebrating our modern hedonic weirdness. All media considered: paintings, video, cartoons, street art, photographs, sculpture, and yes PERFORMERS!
 

Submission Deadline: Sept. 16th

Theme: “Of Glitter, Honey, and Gold,” seeks to celebrate and appreciate “Fly Girl” culture amongst women of color. This exhibit will explore the decorative nails of the 90s, crimped curls, encrusted rings and décolletage’s adorned in Gold.  

Medium: Accepting a range of disciplines from photography, visual arts, painting, sculpture, film, and much more.  

Submission Deadline: Sept. 18th

Theme: A fall/winter-themed showcase exploring reminiscences of Black culture, warmth, and community through various mediums and artistic expressions.   

Application Requirements:  

1. Artist Statement (250-500 words)
2. Artwork Samples (3-5 high-quality images or videos)
3. Artwork Description (including title, medium, size, year created, and brief description)
4. Artist Bio (150-250 words, including name, contact info, social media, and artistic experience) 

Submission Deadline: Sept. 26th 4pm

Budget: $30,000 ($15,000 for each artist/design) 

Theme: The imagery should help define these gathering spaces, complement existing design schemes, convey a Pacific Northwest sense of place, and elevate themes of connectivity (people, power, place), empowerment (energy, equity, electricity), sustainability, and biophilia, tying to Living Building Challenge and public art program goals. 

Submission Deadline: Sept. 26th 4pm

Budget: $200,000 ($40,000 design; $160,000 implementation) 

Theme:  The piece will serve as a welcoming gesture to all Metro staff and visitors and be visible from multiple interior and exterior vantage points. Be it carved, assembled, painted, mosaic, light, digital or other media, the artwork should be appropriately scaled for the site, complement existing design schemes, convey a Pacific Northwest sense of place, and elevate themes of connectivity (people, power, place), empowerment (energy, equity, electricity), sustainability, and biophilia, tying to Living Building Challenge and public art program goals. 

Submission Deadline: Sept. 26th 4pm

Budget: $220,000 ($40,000 design; $180,000 implementation plus applicable construction credits) 

Theme:  The tables should complement existing design schemes and elevate themes of connectivity (people, power, place), empowerment (energy, equity, electricity), sustainability, and biophilia, tying to Living Building Challenge and public art program goals to help make the experience of working at the SAB more enjoyable for the hundreds of Metro administrators, bus operators, and maintenance professionals that will be on site around the clock, 7 days per week.

Details:  

• Artwork Under $200
• 2D and 3D works must be under 16” on all sides including frame.
• New Jewelry! - This year we will have a dedicated Jewelry case 
• Free to submit! If accepted you will be asked to pay a one time flat $30 non-refundable hanging fee. This helps the collective offset the cost of the event.
• Artist to submit up to 4 works
  • 2-3 works guaranteed to be installed 
  • 1-2 works as backstock for when art sells/installed if space provides

Details: Our November Gallery Art Show is an open call to artist working in the service industry. All mediums welcome! to be featured drop off your work and tag information to Make.Shift Art Space by October 19th.

Details: Seeking up to 4 pieces per artist. Artists can submit as many pieces as they like for consideration.

All mediums considered except solely AI-generated work.
Maximum artwork size to be 10” x 10" including frame (preference given to smaller works fyi, after all it IS a mini show!)
Maximum retail price cap is $300 USD (work must be for sale)
Art does not have to be "holiday" themed!

Medium:  You can propose visual art exhibitions, performances, literary readings, lectures and symposia, screenings, reading groups, debates, sketching and figure drawing, combinations of these formats, and more. You can request funding in set amounts from in-kind (gallery usage only with staff support) up to $7,000.

Theme:  QTBIPOC artists are invited to submit artwork related to the divine feminine/masculine/ nonbinary divine bodies for the Divine Bodies Exhibition at Slide Gallery in Belltown. This exhibition is a companion to Judy Lee's "Home in My Body" exhibition, a narrative portrait project exploring women’s lived experiences in different bodies, at Slip next door. Medium:  

• Open to all artistic mediums.
• Artist statement explaining your work's connection to the theme.
• Up to 3 pieces of your artwork submitted (300 dpi). They must be related/part of a series.
